The United Kingdom is full of history, and with that history comes a whole host of paranormal activity. From castles to battlefields, there are plenty of places in the UK that are said to be haunted. Here are 5 of the creepiest!

1. Tower of London – The Tower of London is said to be one of the most haunted places in the world, let alone the UK. It was built in 1066 and has been used as a prison, execution site, and royal palace over the years. It's no surprise, then, that it's said to be home to the ghosts of Anne Boleyn, Lady Jane Grey, and even a bear!

2. Hampton Court Palace – Hampton Court Palace is another place with a long and bloody history. It was built in 1515 for Cardinal Thomas Wolsey but ended up being seized by Henry VIII just 3 years later. Since then, it's been used as a royal residence off and on, and it's said to be haunted by both Wolsey and one of Henry's wives, Catherine Howard.

3. Edinburgh Castle – Edinburgh Castle has been around for centuries, first being built in the 12th century. It has since been used as a royal residence, military barracks, and even a prison. It's no wonder, then, that it's said to be haunted by the ghost of piper Jim Gray, who disappeared while playing his instrument on the castle grounds back in 1881.

4. Battle of Bosworth Field – The Battle of Bosworth Field was fought in 1485 and was one of the most significant battles in English history. It saw the death of King Richard III and the rise of Henry Tudor to the throne. Today, visitors to the battlefield have reported seeing spectral soldiers fighting amongst the ruins.

5. Culloden Moor – Culloden Moor is perhaps best known as the site of the Battle of Culloden, which took place in 1746. The battle was fought between Jacobite rebels and British forces and resulted in a crushing defeat for the rebels. It's said that on foggy nights, you can still hear the sounds of battle coming from Culloden Moor.
